Safeguarding is a fundamental part of operating as a charity for the public benefit. Trustees must take reasonable steps to protect people who come into contact with their charity from harm.This course will help trustees embed safeguarding in their governance. The course also explores common safeguarding risks trustees should be aware of, and how to manage personal behaviour and relationships.

OUTCOMES By the end of the training, you'll:

understand your safeguarding duties within current law and policy in England. This includes your responsibilities to staff, volunteers, children and adults at risk of harm, and others in contact with your organisation understand the governance and assurance role of trustees in building a safeguarding culture be aware of safer working responsibilities as a trustee.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This course is suitable for all trustees. WHO DELIVERS THE TRAINING? Tom Burke is an NCVO Associate with extensive experience in leading safeguarding and child protection training for voluntary organisations. He is UK regional advisor for the Funder Safeguarding Collaborative and has led research into the role of safeguarding leads in the voluntary sector.He previously led the development of the NCVO’s safeguarding help and guidance for charities and was technical advisor on our safeguarding guidance for trustees.

HOW WILL IT BE DELIVERED? This training will take place on Zoom. We'll send out the Zoom link with the joining instructions before the session.The training will run from 10.00 until 13.00 with short breaks.

PRICING

Our pricing structure is based on your organisation’s gross annual income. NCVO members also receive a 30% discount on training prices. Prices start at £38 for small NCVO members.
