Charity Job Opportunities in Bath & North East Somerset
Julian House, Bath
Position: Facilities and Health & Safety Manager Organisation: Julian House Location: Bath Hours: Full Time - 40 hours per week Contract: Permanent Salary: Starting salary £31,528 per annum - with the potential for the salary to rise with organisation growth to £35,321 per annum Closing Date: Friday 1st February 2019
Role Details: With 30 new Supported Housing flats taken on in 2018 the time has come for Julian House to professionalise its Facilities Management and that is where you come in, with the opportunity to shape the post and provide FM and H&S support to a staff team who will welcome your expertise. You’re going to join an established management team which has seen growth in revenues, staff numbers, services and geographical reach. Against this positive backdrop in this new role you’re going to help shape our approach to property bringing support that will be welcomed by our friendly team. You’ll bring Health and Safety alive, helping the whole team to understand their shared responsibility and making data meaningful so that we all know how we are performing. So, in the first 90 days you’re going to spend most of your time in two areas. Firstly, getting to know our charity and key priorities. Secondly, building the team you need around you to help us all achieve our aims. Within 12 months you’ll know you have been successful when:
You’ve embedded a first class culture of Health and Safety across Julian House;
You have reviewed our contracting and purchasing, improved quality and made tangible savings;
Your newly developed planned and preventative maintenance programme is working smoothly across all facilities;
You’re bringing stability and expertise to our property management, helping us drive our ambitious growth strategy.
Who you are You’re qualified in a relevant hands-on role. That means you have a natural day to day feel for property maintenance and spotting hazards in the workplace. You are ambitious for the next challenge and are comfortable with preparing reports. A natural team player and communicator, your approach is to build expertise in the whole staff team rather than be the standalone expert. That said, you will know where to draw the line and wont hold back from acting swiftly when people or the organisations reputation are at risk. You are a keen learner and will welcome our offer of further training and qualification in areas you need to excel in the role.
What we’re offering We offer a competitive starting salary which will grow as the organisation grows, and benefits which include a generous pension scheme and leave entitlement, healthcare benefits and flexible working. Money and benefits aside, there are plenty of other things we can promise you. Autonomy is one of them. You won’t be micro-managed. We might ask some tough questions. But we don’t pick apart everything you do. Recognition of a job well-done is another. When people succeed, we make sure everyone in our charity knows about it. Plus, there’s the opportunity to play a key part in the growth of one of the South West’s most exciting charities. Sound appealing? Then we are likely to be a good fit.
