Care Home Volunteers

Brief Description of Organisation

Care Home Volunteers recruits, trains and supports befrienders to bring joy and companionship to older people living in care homes, especially those who don't receive visits from friends or family. This helps these residents keep in touch with the outside world, gives them an opportunity to remember the good times and improves their wellbeing and quality of life.

Care Home Volunteers recruits, trains and supports befrienders to bring joy and companionship to older people living in care homes, especially those who have no visits from friends or family. This helps these residents keep in touch with the outside world, gives them an opportunity to remember the good times and improves their wellbeing and quality of life.

Recent studies have shown that spending as little as one hour a week with individual residents in getting to know them, about their lives, hobbies and interests, can make a huge difference to their wellbeing. Our volunteers say how rewarding it is to bring such joy and happiness to people's lives.

Care Home Volunteers works throughout Banes, Swindon and Wiltshire. Our volunteers work in both residential and nursing homes, and in all homes regardless of ownership model or CQC grade. Volunteers are supported by a full training programme, regular catch-ups and ongoing support throughout their volunteering journey.
