Full Description of Organisation
At West of England Falconry we have a passion for birds of prey, and we are committed to a future that is brighter not just for the raptors we care for but the environment and the ecosystems they live in.
Education in many ways is the key to unlocking meaningful conservation - and every day we endeavour to inspire a change within our visitors, to change an attitude or spark an idea that may just result in positive change.
At the centre we offer opportunities for our visitors to become involved with the birds, seeing them in flying displays and in thier purpose built avaries.
We are incredibly proud to rely on an amazing team of staff and volunteers, including local college students learning more about the requirements of the animal care industry.
Each and every member of our team contributes a huge amount to the way we are able to run the centre, and in return we strive to give opportunities to learn new skills, develop their careers and teach high standards for the keeping and free flying of raptors in captivity.
Whilst environmental pollution, species decline, climate change, persecution and more continue to pressurise the planet we must preserve, we will not stand still. In 2022 we developed, launched and updated new conservation programmes - supporting wild birds of prey and wild environments.
The health and wellbeing of all of the birds in our care is crucial to us. Free flight is part of their every day routine and we are constantly striving to improve our aviaries and techniques in husbandry and training. We are a licensed Zoo and have been commended for a high standard of animal care by DEFRA.
