Gift Aid Awareness Day 01 October 2026

Gift Aid awareness day is just around the corner on 1st October 2026.
CFG - Charity Finance group - are running this year’s campaign to ‘Tick the Box’ a chance to remind donors how important Gift Aid is to the Third sector.
“Gift Aid was worth £1.7bn a year to UK charities in 2024/2025. It’s a huge amount, but it could be even more! According to the Charities Aid Foundation Giving Report 2025, more than three quarters of donors say they ʻalwaysʼ or ʻsometimesʼ add Gift Aid to their donations. Most people, whether donors or not, believe that Gift Aid is essential to charities and that, when appropriate, people should be encouraged to add Gift Aid to their donations”

Gift Aid is such a huge boost to the third sector and raised £1.71 Billion for UK charities in the tax year ending April 2025 (*HMRC) This is such a massive boost to funding but many smaller local charities are missing out on this pot. According to CAF Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and Swiftaid Swiftaid an estimated £564 million Gift Aid is unclaimed each year.
This unclaimed pot is often due to old systems that are yet to catch up with the modern ways people give, for example; Online donations, collection ‘buckets’ and digital platform donations mean that donors often pass by the gift aid sections for quick transactions. Donors don’t always realise small cash donations and items dropped at shops are eligible unless they are reminded.
Join in on Gift Aid Awareness Day and ensure your organisation is claiming the amounts it should.
