About the Event
Civil society and the civil service often work to a common purpose – after all, both are concerned with the ‘civil’, namely citizens and their concerns. However, a disconnect can sometimes prevent the two sectors from effectively reinforcing each other.
This exciting event aims to develop richer and more powerful connections between the civil service and civil society and set out what potential impact a closer working relationship could have locally and nationally.

- Hear from senior speakers from across the civil service and civil society
- Be inspired by best practice case studies and an interactive session on volunteering
- Share your thoughts on potential structural changes that could enable closer working between the two sectors
- Make connections with other organisations across civil society and the civil service
Speakers include:
- Lord Gus O’Donnell, Former Cabinet Secretary and Chair of the Law Family Commission on Civil Society
- Susannah Storey, Permanent Secretary, Department for Culture, Media and Sport
- Sarah Vibert, Chief Executive, National Council for Voluntary Organisations
- Halima Begum, CEO, Oxfam
