About this event

Training Aims :

  • Increase practitioner’s confidence in alcohol awareness.
  • An introduction to alcohol misuse and alcohol dependency.
  • Explore the impact of alcohol on the life-course.
  • Explore the interventions, tools and practical support that can be put in place.

Learning Outcomes:

  • To understand the local and national statistics on alcohol in the UK and Bath and North East Somerset.
  • To understand how the Covid – 19 pandemic has impacted alcohol consumption.
  • To be aware of how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and traumatic events are interconnected with alcohol misuse.
  • To be aware of the effects of alcohol on health and social outcomes in the short and long term.
  • To understand the interventions, tools and resources that can be put in place to support alcohol harm reduction including the B&NES pathway and how to refer / signpost.
  • To gain confidence in raising the issue of alcohol in their own setting.

The interactive online training session will be delivered by the Public Health Team at Bath and North East Somerset Council.

Duration: 2 - 2.5 hours

Platform: This course is going to be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. Details of how to access this course will be sent to the email address you provide.

This training can be adapted and tailored to your sector, teams and training needs.
