About the Event

This workshop will give you insights into:

- using a strengths or asset based community development approach to supporting older people to connect and act on what they care about

- reducing social isolation and loneliness for people 50+

- helping build community resilience and support

This webinar showcases Torbay's approach to building community connectivity over the last 10 years, using asset based community development and timebanking. Our approach was delivered through a team of Community Builders based in neighbourhoods across Torbay.

We will talk about how we set up the project, what support was provided to the team and any other enablers.

We will discuss the practice itself, some of the challenges and what we found has worked well. We will also share how this connects to wider collaborative working.

The session will explore what Community Builders do and don’t do, and a range of techniques employed in Torbay that have supported a lot of people to feel more valued and purposeful, and less isolated and lonely.
