About the Event

As well as learning about carbon monoxide risks from the Gas Safe Charity, there will be input in the workshop from the Fire and Rescue Service, Wales & West Utilities and local charities who support vulnerable people.

You may not really have thought about carbon monoxide (CO) risks in your day-to-day work or volunteering, both as it affects your clients and also you. But, your organisation has a duty of care to both. These workshops are aimed at front-line staff and volunteers from social care, NHS, the Fire & Rescue Services, Housing Associations, the voluntary / community sector and the private sector which supports vulnerable people.

The cost-of-living crisis is also seeing unsafe practices arise, as people try to save money. The workshops will look at these issues too, as well as fire safety and fuel poverty and the help and resources available to your clients.

The workshops will tell you more about what carbon monoxide is and how it is formed, the sources, signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, how to help prevent it, and what the implications are for you in your role, your organisation and your clients. In particular, the workshops focus on long-term, low-level risks which can have serious consequences. The risks of CO poisoning increase with poverty and with spending time at home where CO may be present, but undetected.
