About the Event
This webinar will include:
Tips for drafting a Campaigns and Political Activity Policy – the Charity Commission Annual Return now has a standard question about whether a charity has a Policy on 'Campaigns and Political Activity and Procedures'.
A presentation from Oxfam GB (Joss Saunders, General Counsel) on Oxfam’s Campaigns and Policy Authorisation Procedures, including decision making case studies.
Top tips for charity campaigning in the lead up to the next UK Parliamentary General Election. The General Election has to be held by January 2025 and commentators expect it to be in October 2024, or, though less likely, May 2024. As the regulated retrospective period for non-party campaigning is 12 months, this means that we are or will soon be in a regulated period. The webinar will also cover:
- Drawing up appropriate Campaign Policies, including delegated frameworks, setting risk tolerance levels, roles of campaigners, management and trustees
- Top tips for advocacy and campaigning and avoiding regulated electoral activity
- Complying with charity law and regulations
- Being part of coalitions or alliances without joint campaigning under electoral law
- Engagement with political parties, politicians and PPCs
- Risk mitigations that can be put in place
