About the Event

The voices of underserved communities are often not heard in health research.  This is unethical and contributes to the persistence of health inequalities.

We are holding an event with the aim of exploring how researchers at the Applied Research Collaboration (ARC West; https://arc-w.nihr.ac.uk/) can better work together with community organisations to deliver health research that makes a difference.

The event will be held on Wednesday 24th July from 9.00-12.30. This will be an in-person event, held at The Station, Silver St, Bristol, BS1 2AG. Click here for map.

To book your place, please sign up via this form.

This will be an opportunity to get together to reflect and discuss opportunities for collaborations and involvement in health research that benefits underserved communities.

The day will focus on:

  • Networking and making new connections.
  • Updating on progress so far: Sharing examples of community involvement at ARC West
  • Developing future plans: How can we work together with community organisations to ensure communities benefit from working with ARC West.

We will pay for your time to attend the event (£25 p/h) and travel expenses.

*Please keep your travel receipts - we'll send out information about how to claim your expenses after the event.

We hope that you will leave having enjoyed the time together, having made some further connections across your own and other geographies, and feeling inspired to work together in the future.

Any organisations who do work in the mental / physical health or social care sphere may find this event interesting.
