Diversity of Thought - Lubna Shuja

Diversity of Thought is aimed at supporting professionals at middle to senior management level into trustee and Non-Executive Director (NED) roles.

It is a unique programme, the first of its kind originating from South West England, and our aim is to support ambitious Black Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) people with impactful knowledge, and inspiring real-life stories, to move them up to leadership positions.

Lubna Shuja is the incoming President of the Law Society. She will be the first President of Asian heritage, the first Muslim, and only the seventh female President since The Law Society’s inaugural year in 1825.

Having qualified as a solicitor in 1992, Lubna is now sole practitioner at Legal Swan Solicitors in Birmingham, a firm she set up in 2007.

Lubna has been a member of the Law Society Council since 2013, currently sitting on the society’s board and chairing its Strategic Litigation Group and previously serving as the inaugural Chair of the Law Society’s Membership and Communications Committee (2018-2021).
