About the Event
We are delighted to announce our annual Trauma Recovery UK conference is returning with this one day event designed to equip professionals working with children, young people and families who have experienced trauma.
This is our third conference and this year we will be discussing the theme Traumatised Communities to Trauma Informed & Relationship Centred Communities.
The event will be a hybrid event, accessible both online via Zoom and in person, hosted by our flagship Trauma Recovery Centre in Bath.
Key note speakers:
Betsy de Thierry, MA, Consultant Psychotherapist, Trainer, Author, CEO of BdT Training Ltd and Founder & Chair of Trustees of the Trauma Recovery UK (TRC). (www.betsytraininguk.co.uk & www.trc-uk.org).
Betsy is an internationally recognised trauma recovery expert and a psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and adults. Betsy has authored best selling books on trauma recovery as well as a consultant to and training 1000’s of professionals a year. Betsy has an ongoing commitment to supporting Trauma Recovery UK, to continue to strengthen it in its specialist work of helping people recover from trauma.

Lisa Cherry is an author, researcher and leading international trainer and consultant, specialising in assisting schools, services and systems to create change that supports working with the legacy of trauma. Lisa has been working in Education and Children’s Services for over 30 years and combines academic knowledge and research with professional skills and personal experience.
Lisa's MA research looked at the impact on education and employment for care experienced adults who experienced school exclusion as children in the 1970's and 1980's. Currently, Lisa is undertaking DPhil research at The University of Oxford in the Department of Education, asking the research question "How do care-experienced adults who have been excluded from school understand those experiences of being in care and school exclusion in relation to belonging?"Lisa is the author of the hugely successful book 'Conversations that make a difference for Children and Young People' and ‘The Brightness of Stars’ 3rd Edition published in June 2022.
Trauma Recovery UK
Trauma Recovery UK with Trauma Recovery Centres across the UK, are specialists in trauma recovery. We work alongside a wide range of charities, schools and organisations that support children and young people and their families who have faced complex trauma.
We exist to facilitate the creative and purposeful recovery of children and young people facing trauma, challenge and crisis. We are a charity that provides creative, play, music and art psychotherapy to children and young people, as well as therapeutic support for their parents or carers in Trauma Recovery Centres across the UK.
Previous conference attendees have fed back that they feel more skilled, confident in their role, hopeful and effective in supporting these young people as a result of attending our annual conferences.
Who is the conference aimed at: We will aim the conference at professionals working with children, young people and their adults, however anyone who is interested is welcome to attend.
Booking Details: Please note, completion of this booking is a binding agreement. Unfortunately, no refunds will be offered if you are unable to attend but substitutions are welcome. You will be refunded in full for the cost of the course if the Conference is cancelled by us.
