About the Event

Who is it for? This session is aimed at practitioners working with LGBTQ+ young people. This may also be of interest to parents or carers wanting to understand more about LGBTQ+ young people’s experiences and how to support them.

What to expect? This will be delivered online, via video link and will include a mix of video, images, audio, lecture, and opportunity to type questions throughout the webinar.

Once your booking is complete you will be sent a link to join the Zoom meeting for the session.

The 2.5-hour session will include:

  • Introduction to the trainers, the session and Off the Record’s LGBTQ+ services
  • Group agreement and session expectations
  • LGBTQ+ terminology
  • Understanding sex, gender and sexual orientation
  • Overview of statistics and experiences of LGBTQ+ young people
  • Supporting LGBTQ+ young people
  • Diversity in the LGBTQ+ community
  • Creating inclusive spaces
  • Additional resources for support and information
  • Questions and reflections

Please note we want to create a safe space for discussion and as an anti-oppressive organisation we operate a zero-tolerance policy to discriminatory behaviour and will remove participants from the call if necessary.
