About the Event

With a general election just around the corner, it’s crucial that charities understand the laws and regulations surrounding political campaigns. In the last few months, the Electoral Commission has published the new Code of Practice for non-party campaigners and the Charity Commission and Electoral Commission have released shared advice to help charities with this.

This new information can feel intimidating, and even confusing, especially if you don’t have a background in law. With there being so much controversy surrounding charities and politics, we want to set the record straight and help you campaign with confidence.

In this two-hour session, we’ll break down the current guidance on campaigning during election time, and assess some of the risks that may come with it.

Join us and our panel of experts for an afternoon of questions and debate.

This session covers:
  • The importance to our democracy of campaigning for charitable causes
  • A review of the Electoral Commission’s new Code of Practice for non-party campaigners and The Charity Commission’s Campaigning and political activity guidance for charities
  • The risks of campaigning in the lead-up to an election and how to navigate this
  • How to continue to campaign within the regulations

By attending this event, you will gain the knowledge you need to campaign lawfully during this critical period.
