About the Event

Integrated care systems (ICS) are local partnerships that bring together NHS bodies, local councils and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE). They develop shared plans for how they will improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities and have statutory responsibility for the design and delivery of health and care services in England.

Place-based partnerships are part of integrated care systems. They might be called different things - like integrated locality partnerships or local care partnerships – but they usually cover one or two local authority areas, again bringing together local organisations that impact on health and wellbeing. They have delegated authority to execute ICS business, such as commissioning.

There is flexibility in how the relationship between system and place is developing in ICSs depending on the local context. This is helpful in terms of enabling ICSs to build on strong existing place-based partnerships where they exist but…
