VCSE Alliance Webinar - Coordinating ICS Partnerships at System & Place

Integrated care systems (ICS) are local partnerships that bring together NHS bodies, local councils and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE). They develop shared plans for how they will improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities and have statutory responsibility for the design and delivery of health and care services in England.

Place-based partnerships are part of integrated care systems. They might be called different things - like integrated locality partnerships or local care partnerships – but they usually cover one or two local authority areas, again bringing together local organisations that impact on health and wellbeing. They have delegated authority to execute ICS business, such as commissioning.

There is flexibility in how the relationship between system and place is developing in ICSs depending on the local context. This is helpful in terms of enabling ICSs to build on strong existing place-based partnerships where they exist but it does mean there is no blueprint for newly formed ICSs to follow in practice.

Over the past two years participants of the Embedding VCSE in ICS peer support network have consistently brought up the challenge of coordinating partnerships at system and place level within ICSs.

What?

This webinars aims to share learning on this topic, identifying tools and enablers, by drawing on the experience of two case studies. The purpose is to enable participants to understand:

• Why there is a need for coordination across and within systems and at place in terms of ICS partnership building? (Where are we now - the context and challenge)

• How coordination across system and place is working in practice to enable impactful partnerships and a consistent offer to people and communities? (Where we want to get to / the solution)

• What tools and enablers can help partnerships to coordinate across and within system and place? (Getting from A to B)

This webinar is likely to be of interest to people involved in partnership building in ICSs and at place level, in the NHS, local government and VCSE sector.
