About this event
This short course provides a beginner’s guide on how to write a successful funding application, using the ‘National Lottery Community Fund’s Awards For All’ online application form as an example.
Securing grant funding is vital if you want to sustain and grow your projects and fund your core costs and staff salaries, but writing successful applications isn’t easy – especially when it comes to speaking a funder’s language, writing to tight word counts and standing out in an ultra-competitive landscape.
On this course, we will:
- Walk you through a real-life successful Awards For All application, explaining how it was developed and what made it succeed
- Help you to describe your impact better and develop a clear set of activities and outcomes for your project
- Explain why funders are increasingly interested in co-production (i.e. projects designed in consultation with your service users) and how to evidence this in applications
- Explain how to write clearly and concisely when up against a tight word count
- Walk you through a budget template that helps you to accurately calculate and explain project costs, including apportioning staff salary costs where appropriate
There will be time during the course to ask questions, begin sketching out ideas for a funding application of your own, and finally to develop a basic action plan outlining what you need to do next to become more funding-ready.
About the funding:
