Purpose of the role
The Governance Lead Trustee supports Music for Miniatures in maintaining strong, effective, and compliant governance. They ensure that the organisation operates in line with its charitable objectives, legal responsibilities, and best practice, enabling the Board to make well-informed, accountable decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and review governance structures, policies, and procedures to ensure they remain up to date and fit for purpose
- Support the Board in meeting its legal and regulatory responsibilities, including compliance with Charity Commission requirements
- Ensure effective systems for risk management, accountability, and decision-making
- Lead on improving board effectiveness, including reviewing processes and ways of working
- Support trustee recruitment, induction, and ongoing development
- Provide advice and guidance on constitutional and governance matters
Person specification
- Knowledge or experience of charity governance, leadership, or organisational management
- Understanding of trustee responsibilities and good governance practice
- Ability to think strategically and provide constructive challenge
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to the mission and values of Music for Miniatures
Time commitment
- Attend quarterly board meetings
- Provide ad hoc support and advice between meetings
