VOLUNTEER TRUSTEES

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in your community? We are seeking a committed and forward-thinking Trustee to join our board and help guide the future of our charity. This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills, experience and insight to support our mission, strengthen our impact, and ensure we continue delivering vital services to those who need them most. As a Trustee, you will play a key role in shaping strategy, providing governance and championing the values at the heart of our work

Peggy Dodd is an award-winning charity which works to help those living with dementia and memory loss, whilst supporting and providing respite to the people who care for them. We do this through our day centre in Combe Down and our home support service.

Our vision is to enrich the lives of those living with memory loss and their carers by consistently providing support which respects the needs of each individual.

About the Role

Trustees play a crucial role in ensuring the charity is well-governed, financially sustainable, and true to its purpose.
As a Trustee, you will work as part of the Board to provide strategic oversight, guidance, and governance for the charity’s operations. You will help shape its future direction and champion the needs of people affected by dementia. and you will be especially welcome if you have fundraising or marketing experience.

You will need to be willing to support the charity’s activities, in particular attending, promoting or contributing to the organisation of fundraising events, of which there are currently 6-7 a year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and review of the charity’s strategic plan and policies.
  • Oversee financial performance and risk management, ensuring the charity remains solvent and properly resourced.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and impact of services, upholding high standards of care and safeguarding.
  • Act as an ambassador for the charity, promoting its work and values in the community.
  • Support and challenge the senior team as they deliver the charity’s objectives.
  • Attend and actively participate in board meetings and occasional events

Person Specification

  • Commitment to Peggy Dodd’s vision and values
  • Understanding (or willingness to learn) about dementia and the challenges faced by those affected.
  • Strategic thinking, sound judgment, and integrity.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a diverse board team.
  • Skills in areas such as health and social care, fundraising would be particularly valuable. In particular, we are looking for someone to lead in the area of fundraising.
