Reporting to: Community Manager
Responsible for: Employed and contracted Community staff and Volunteers

Main purpose of the role: As a Schools Partnership Officer (SPO), you will be instrumental in managing and developing our relationships with schools. This initiative uses sport to encourage positive behaviours in children and young people in hard-to-reach communities.


Key Responsibilities:

 

Coaching:

  • Provide expert coaching and instruction in a variety of sports, including rugby, football, basketball, and golf.

  • Teach fundamental skills and support the development of growth mindset to all participants.

  • Encourage positive behaviours, fair play, and respect amongst children and young people.

  • Plan and create session plans, schemes of work, and resources with appropriate risk assessments in place.

Management:

  • Lead the development of the existing primary and secondary school programme and identify new opportunities in line with current research and the charity’s strategic aims.

  • Build strong relationships with schools, demonstrate the programme’s impact and secure schools’ participation.

  • Manage and compile monitoring and evaluation reports for both primary and secondary school programme.

  • Provide mentoring, support, guidance, and advice to community staff, casual coaches, and volunteers.

  • Coordinate and manage primary and secondary school events and festivals with our schools, colleges, grassroots rugby clubs and external partners.

  • Assist Community Manager in developing primary and secondary school programme budgets and invoicing.


Communications:

  • Foster excellent working relationships with Bath Rugby Foundation staff, volunteers, participants, and stakeholders.

  • Develop new partnerships with relevant organisations, stakeholders, and charities alongside the Community Manager.

  • Provide regular feedback to the Community Manager.

  • Co-ordinate with the Communications Manager about upcoming events, festivals and/or case studies within the community programmes.


Safeguarding:

  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices.

  • Serve as the accountable Safeguarding Lead on-site at Bath Rec Sports Hub.

  • Uphold the Foundation’s Safeguarding procedures and policies.

  • Ensure relevant Health and Safety regulations are in place and followed by all BRF staff.


Additional:

  • To undertake such other responsibilities as directed by the CEO.

  • To work in a flexible way when the occasion arises so that tasks not specifically covered in the job description are undertaken.

  • To assess and take responsibility for one’s own performance.

  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner (both in person and online).


These are the key tasks as currently defined. It is expected that this job description will be regularly reviewed and may be amended from time to time by mutual agreement to meet changing circumstances.

  • NVQ Level 2 Sports Coaching Award (or equivalent)

  • A valid driving licence and access to transport

  • Experience in project management


Employees are expected to use annual leave outside of core delivery periods and in the year allocated unless otherwise approved by the CEO. Time off in lieu (TOIL) is to be agreed and booked with the CEO when extra working time is being arranged.
