Ecowild CIC Brief Description of Organisation Since early 2013 we have been taking groups of children and adults out in an inspiring natural environment and giving them chance to find their own special connection that will stimulate curiosity, relieve tension, bring a sense of peace and connectedness, and open the door to the deep inner missing link that is their ancestral birthright; a sense of ease in the outdoor environment. Visit Website Full Description of Organisation Think about EcoWild as your partner in nature. Since early 2013 we have been taking groups of children and adults out in an inspiring natural environment and giving them chance to find their own special connection that will stimulate curiosity, relieve tension, bring a sense of peace and connectedness, and open the door to the deep inner missing link that is their ancestral birthright; a sense of ease in the outdoor environment. The constant reports of record temperatures, wildfires, floods and droughts in the world today tell us that climate change is happening now. We are living with ever faster change, both technological and biological. We will need to draw on our incredible human capacity for creativity, resilience and cooperation to meet challenges ahead. Compassion and self awareness are at the heart of finding our courage to create our best future. It is widely known that our wellbeing and resilience is deeply intertwined with that of the natural world, and that there is deep intuitive intelligence available to us through our nature connectedness. Increasingly we as a species are divorced from the environment in which we spent hundreds of thousands of years evolving. Mental health problems and chronic illness are highest in technologically developed countries. Peer reviewed research studies prove the link between access to natural environment and wellbeing in all its measures; including better physical health, lower crime, less domestic violence, less need for pain relief post surgery, optimised mental health. Children are encouraged and supported to make their own choices … and to follow their innate curiosity in the diversity and complexity of the natural world. We recognise the importance of free play and want them to spend time on what interests them, while having chance to expand their skills and understanding. Through this they develop Strong social skills High self esteem Confidence in their abilities Their knowledge of boundaries – physical and emotional The ability to identify and manage risk Independence Their knowledge and understanding of nature as they follow the changing seasons Communication and language Physical ability Increased vocabulary stimulated by new experiences Ways of working together cooperatively Adults are facilitated to experience the best sense of themselves… through the stimulating effects of natural light, companionable activities, elemental experiences making fire, foraging, feeling the weather and noticing seasonal change in a beautiful woodland. We offer activities which may provide new skills and a sense of achievement, or may simply be a way of stilling the mind by keeping the hands busy. In addition, facilitated approaches to nature connection including mindfulness, Deeper Nature sessions and other practices guide participants into greater benefit from their relationship with the living world. EcoWild’s values include… Having fun within a responsive nurturing environment Being participant-led Having positive relationships Encouraging creativity Being environmentally sensitive Professionalism Honesty and accountability Openness Ecowild CIC Brief Description of Organisation Since early 2013 we have been taking groups of children and adults out in an inspiring natural environment and giving them chance to find their own special connection that will stimulate curiosity, relieve tension, bring a sense of peace and connectedness, and open the door to the deep inner missing link that is their ancestral birthright; a sense of ease in the outdoor environment. - Bath Rugby Foundation | 3sg.org.uk
Bath Rugby Foundation Brief Description of Organisation Bath Rugby Foundation is Bath Rugby’s charity and our purpose is to empower vulnerable children and young people in Bath and the surrounding area to succeed. Visit Website Full Description of Organisation Bath Rugby Foundation is Bath Rugby’s charity and our purpose is to empower vulnerable children and young people in Bath and the surrounding area to succeed. Bath is a city famed for its Roman baths, impressive Georgian architecture, Jane Austen - and of course its rugby club. However, behind the Georgian façade lies a different story. 8,154 children in BANES are on the breadline. This is almost 20% of children, rising to 31% in Radstock and 35% in Twerton. Twerton West is in the top 10% most deprived areas in the UK. Whiteway is in the bottom 1% in the country in its provision of education and training for children & young people. 3,521 children receive Free School Meals. When they are not in school their nutrition suffers. B&NES is ranked 146 out of 150 LEA’s in the country with an attainment gap of 31% against a national average of 20%. This means at the end of primary, poorer pupils are already 9.5 months behind their more affluent peers stretching to 19.3 months by the end of secondary school. We don’t believe it is right that such inequality exists in our city. Bath Rugby Foundation exists to bridge the gap between the poorest and most affluent areas, and build a positive, supportive community in Bath and the surrounding area. We believe every child and every young person in Bath and North East Somerset deserves an equal opportunity and the same chance to succeed. Our Work Every year Bath Rugby Foundation works with around 3,000 youngsters who’ve had the toughest start in life. Our programmes focus on key areas of need in our community - Education, Inclusion and Employability. The children we work with are born into poverty, have a Special Educational Need or Disability, or are excluded because of their race or gender. We target young people in their everyday environments - whether in the park, at school or in the street. Bath Rugby Foundation gets involved where the need is greatest and our staff use the combined power of sport and education to motivate, raise self-esteem and increase confidence. We improve life skills using the values of teamwork, loyalty, discipline and respect and work at The Rec, in schools, community centres and parks. We deliver mental, social, physical, wellbeing and employment programmes. Our participants leave with raised confidence, and new life skills, part of the Bath Rugby family. Visit Website Full Description of Organisation Right now, over a million people from Gloucestershire to Cornwall are going to bed hungry while tonnes of good nutritious food are thrown away. At FareShare South West, we join the dots between food waste and hunger, empowering communities to turn an environmental problem into lasting social good. We rescue tonnes of quality surplus food from the industry and share it with charities and schools to bring health, dignity and routes out of poverty for people across the south west. Our supportive volunteering and employability programmes offer local people the opportunity to thrive. FareShare South West is an independent local charity, working in partnership with national charity FareShare who support us with food, projects and raising awareness of food justice for all.
